Some Online Ad Spending Stays Local

Although most advertisers use the Internet to reach a national -- if not global -- audience, about 27 percent of U.S. online ad dollars are aimed at luring clients closer to home. Spending on local online ads is expected to jump 26 percent to $3.2 billion this year, and then at an average 11 percent for the rest of the decade. And the lions share -- almost 70 percent -- will be spent on classified ads.
